    Rider terms & conditions

Version 2.0 — the short, plain version of the agreement you accept when you register.

    1. Who can ride

    • You must be at least 18 years old and legally allowed to work in Nigeria.
    • You must submit a valid National Identification Number (NIN) slip. Rider companies must also submit a CAC or SMEDAN certificate.
    • Your account is personal to you. You may not lend, sell or share your login, access link or withdrawal PIN with anyone.
    • Rider companies are fully responsible for every rider they add to their team, including that rider's conduct and documents.

    2. Your relationship with Chowrun

    • You are an independent service provider, not an employee of Chowrun. You choose when to go online and which jobs to accept.
    • Chowrun is a marketplace that connects you with shops and customers. Chowrun does not own the goods you carry.
    • You are responsible for your own vehicle, fuel, maintenance, insurance and any statutory permits or taxes.

    3. How your fare is set

    • Chowrun calculates every delivery fare. Riders do not set prices and must never negotiate a price with a customer or shop.
    • The fare is distance-based: a ₦1,000 base fare covers the first 2 km, then ₦150 for every extra kilometre, with a ₦500 minimum. There is no maximum fare.
    • You are paid 90% of the delivery fare. Chowrun keeps the remaining 10% plus the ₦100 service fee.
    • The full rate card and worked examples are published in the rider help centre and in the Chowrun Rider Fare Guide. Chowrun may review rates; the app always shows the current rate card before you accept a job.
    • Asking a customer for extra money on top of the app fare is grounds for immediate suspension.

    4. Jobs and delivery

    • When you accept a job you commit to picking up on time and delivering to the address shown.
    • Update your status honestly at every stage: picked up, on the way, arrived, delivered.
    • Never mark an order delivered before the customer actually receives it. Doing so is fraud and leads to immediate suspension.
    • Handle every item with care. You are responsible for goods in your possession from pickup until delivery.
    • Cancelling accepted jobs repeatedly, or going offline mid-job, will reduce your ranking and may remove you from the marketplace.

    5. Earnings, commission and payouts

    • Your delivery earnings are credited to your Chowrun wallet after the order is settled.
    • Chowrun deducts a platform commission from each delivery. The current rate is shown in your rider app before you accept a job.
    • For rider companies, earnings are credited to the company wallet, not to individual riders.
    • Withdrawals go only to the bank account verified on your profile, and are protected by your withdrawal PIN.
    • Chowrun may hold a payout for review where there is a suspected fraud, dispute or chargeback.

    6. Proof of pickup, damage and who pays

    • You must take the in-app pickup photo of the packed order before you leave the shop. The app will not let you continue without it. Photos sent to a WhatsApp group or any outside chat are not accepted as evidence.
    • Take the in-app delivery photo at the drop-off point as well. Both photos are stored against that order number and can be seen by support, the shop and admin.
    • Check the packs before you accept them: sealed, dry, upright and the correct count. If the packing is bad, ask the shop to repack, photograph it and tell support. You are never penalised for refusing a badly packed order.
    • Where the pickup photo shows a sound, sealed pack and the goods arrive damaged, the rider carries the cost. Where the pickup photo shows weak or unsealed packing, or an item was never in the bag, the vendor carries the cost.
    • Where no pickup photo exists, the rider carries the cost, because there is nothing to show the condition the order left the shop in.
    • Genuine accidents, robbery or road incidents reported to support at the time are not charged to the rider.
    • Any deduction is limited to the customer refund for the affected item and will not exceed the fare for that delivery unless Chowrun approves it in writing. You are told before anything is deducted, with the order number, the reason and the photos.
    • You may appeal a deduction within 48 hours from the job page. Chowrun replies within 3 working days. Three damage cases without a pickup photo in 30 days will pause your account.

    7. Location and privacy

    • While you are online, your live location is shared with Chowrun, the shop and the customer for the order you are handling.
    • Customer names, phone numbers and addresses are given to you only to complete a delivery. You may not save, share or contact customers for any other purpose.
    • Chowrun processes your data in line with the Chowrun Privacy Policy and the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

    8. Safety and conduct

    • Obey all traffic laws. Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    • Wear a helmet where required and keep your vehicle roadworthy.
    • Treat customers, shop staff and Chowrun support with respect. Harassment, threats or abuse ends your account.
    • Report accidents, thefts and damaged goods to Chowrun support immediately.

    9. Suspension and closure

    • Chowrun may suspend or close your account for fraud, false delivery confirmations, repeated cancellations, unsafe conduct, or fake documents.
    • You may stop riding at any time. Any confirmed wallet balance remains withdrawable to your verified bank account.
    • Amounts linked to a confirmed fraud or dispute may be withheld or reversed.

    10. Changes to these terms

    • Chowrun may update these terms. You will be asked to accept the new version in the app.
    • Continuing to accept jobs after an update means you accept the updated terms.
